Camille's Wishful Wednesday: Daydreams And Fantasies

***Camille is a friend of mine I know from church. She is classified on another blog I read as a "hopeless romantic", and I think that describes her pretty well. I also think she's incredibly well-balanced and able to work on multiple parts of herself at once. She is a law student, a Sunday school teacher, and an all-around good person. She has some pretty concrete ideas about men and the type of man she'd like to end up with. But she's doing the in-my-20s-dating-follies thing as well.*** Read Wishful Wednesday posts.

There's this guy at Camille's school who seemed to never take notice of her last year. But this year, she feels him watching her every time they're in the school's library. This has started us off on a flight of fancy as to whether he was watching her because he was interested, or maybe she just happened to keep being in his line of sight.

Of course, I'm hoping something will come of this, but we'll see.

I kept mentioning another guy who is a friend of Camille's. This is the one who acted crazy when they went to Spain. Also, he's the one who said he's not Camille's type. Well, she brought him to our luau we threw as a group of friends.

I was excited to finally meet him and I think he's awesome. I do see why Camille isn't interested in him. But interestingly enough, he seemed to hit it off with one of Michelle's cousins. She asked Camille for his phone number and he agreed she should have it. Once he dates one of the girls in our group, he's off limits for everyone else, so that will be it for any possibility for him and Camille.

So for now, we'll be micro-dissecting the intentions of library man...

Camille's Wishful Wednesday: Still Waiting For Prince Charming, But In The Meanwhile...

But she's doing the in-my-20s-dating-follies thing as well.***

Quick Recap [The last post I wrote about Camille was back in June after her trip to Barcelona. In that post, I talked about how she fell "out of like" with a guy because of his behavior on the trip. Other than that, her trip was a lot of fun] Read Wishful Wednesday posts.

Since that time, she and the guy have remained friends. He even went with her to the birthday party of one of her friends. The friend asked him why he wasn't dating Camille and he responded that he wasn't her type. He's never asked her out by the way. I confirmed with Camille that she wasn't interested in dating this guy. They're just friends, even if he does maintain a slight interest in her.

On another note, since the school year has started, Camille is all ready to be in charge of the student group she's president of. I'm expecting great things from her and I'm still so proud she won that position. She's already instilling new things like networking with other grad school groups and having evaluations for board members. She's on her way to being a very powerful and important. They all start small, you know?

I want to bring up a name I haven't mentioned in a while, King. He and Camille have this ongoing flirtation that doesn't seem to ever be in danger of turning into a relationship. Their new things is discussing what life will be like when they get married.

I feel some kind of way about this because I'd rather hear about his ability to make a relationship function from day to day, but whatever. They have made some crazy assertions in this fantasy. The craziest of which is that they'll have five kids. I can't imagine that seeing as how she'll be a high-powered attorney and he'll be a politician. But we all can dream right?

As of now, there are no serious prospects on the horizon, which sucks. But at least there's temporary amusement.

Camille's Wishful Wednesday: Falling Out of Like

***Camille is a friend of mine I know from church. She is classified on another blog I read as a "hopeless romantic", and I think that describes her pretty well. I also think she's incredibly well-balanced and able to work on multiple parts of herself at once. She is a law student, a Sunday school teacher, and an all-around good person. She has some pretty concrete ideas about men and the type of man she'd like to end up with. But she's doing the in-my-20s-dating-follies thing as well.***

Quick Recap [My last post about Camille was two weeks ago. I talked about how Camille had gone to Barcelona and come back over Bachelor #1. Camille being over a guy she liked is not a new phenomenon, but I didn't have the whole story yet.] Read Wishful Wednesday posts.

The story is that once they were in Barcelona, Bachelor #1 seemed like a different guy to Camille. He went from saying back in the States how physical acts have to have emotions attached and not wanting to rush things to being in Barcelona and he was suddenly looking for girls to "get it in."

Camille really wasn't feeling this huge change in behavior. To her it didn't matter if this was out of character or character-revealing. What mattered is it what such a turn off. And jumping into her bed while she's trying to sleep to drunkenly rub her arms in an attempt to cuddle etc. is a quick way out of her good graces.

So now Bachelor #1 is pretty firmly in the friend box. She still likes talking to him, but any romantic interest has evaporated.

But there was another guy there from her school. This guy is a favorite amongst the women at her school. He's very good looking and he knows it. He has already got a bit of history with a couple of the women at the school. But he happened to catch Camille's eye during the trip.

It wasn't because of his looks (though taking his shirt of on a beach in Barcelona did no harm), it's about his personality. She got the chance to have a couple of conversations with him about topics they've never covered before. I'm not sure she really likes this guy, but her interest was definitely piqued.

Camille is still intending to reach out to the guy from the wedding. She was over him, but neglected to tell him so. This guy is the artist who doesn't understand social norms and has a loose grasp on English pronunciation. Seriously, he pronounces spinach like "Spanish" and explains it away by claiming he's an artist. But she has decided to finally let him know that she is officially just not that into him. I hope she does this soon so he can stop pursuing her and maintain some dignity amongst their mutual friends.

We'll see if she changes her mind about Bachelor #1, if the new been-around-the-block guy holds her interest, and if she really lets down the artist nicely.

Camille's Wishful Wednesday: She's Over Bachelor #1

Last week, I mentioned that Camille was in Barcelona for a class trip and that Bachelor #1 was with her. But she came back from Barcelona and the first thing she told me after congratulations on my engagement is that she's over Bachelor #1!

I don't know the whole story yet because with the way my schedule has been going, we just haven't had time to catch up. But I figure this will make for an interesting story. I was hoping she'd come back with tales of a passionate bloom of relationship, not a dead panned statement.

But I will have more next week. And not just about another guy she's just not that into, but also about how wonderful Barcelona is.

Camille's Wishful Wednesday:

***Camille is a friend of mine I know from church. She is classified on another blog I read as a "hopeless romantic", and I think that describes her pretty well. Read Wishful Wednesday posts.

Last week, I mentioned that Camille was going to Barcelona. I had the weeks wrong. She left last Friday, but I thought she was leaving this Friday. So she's gone on her trip, and I have nothing to report about her week since I'm not in Barcelona to watch.

But I imagine that things are going well with Bachelor #1. At least I hope so. Since she's over the guy she met at the wedding, this guy is the only real prospect around that she hasn't said she's "over".

There is still King, but he's got a lot going on right now with school and work. Camille has never said she's over him, but he's not exactly pursuing her aside from requesting she apply to his job for her internship. That's some lazy ass pursuing if you ask me.

I will say this for Camille: with all she has going on with these men floating around, she's doing a good job of being single. When I think of someone doing well at being single, they're not stressing about their single-hood. They're focusing on bettering themselves and enriching the non-romantic parts of their life.

Camille is focused on school, career planning, her friends, and being healthy. She seems happy and fulfilled and so any man who comes along will be a great addition to her life, but he wouldn't be her whole life.

Camille's Wishful Wednesday: Guys Floating Around Like Thought Bubbles or Milky Ways

Quick Recap [My last post about Camille was back at the end of April, so it's been about a month. Stupid PC of mine. In that post, I talked about how Camille was single, but still had these men floating around her, interested in getting a piece of her heart.] Read Wishful Wednesday posts.

Since that time, Camille has followed her pattern that I've noticed she seems to have. I should do a pattern post about her like I did for Michelle. I need to do more observing though before I pinpoint an exact pattern.

What pattern am I talking about? Her tendency to be over guys before their time. Case in point: the guy from the wedding, aka Bachelor #3. Granted, there are a number of things about this guy that just aren't okay, but for Camille, their almost full deal-breakers.

The thing about this guy is that aside from his not-okay qualities, he's really sweet. And he seems really interested in Camille. But she's over him. Only she hasn't told him yet. That should make for an interesting situation since he's the best friend of one of her friends from our church. Remember, she met Bachelor #3 at that guy's wedding.

But I'm going to move on from him to talk about something more fabulous. Camille is going to Barcelona! She leaves next Friday. It's pretty exciting that she's going. And she gets class credit for it. I'm embroidering her Snuggie, so I have to get that finished by Friday. I'll make it happen, definitely. Bachelor #1 is going too, so maybe there will be some development between the two of them. People always go crazy on vacations, right?

Let's hope I have a great story to tell about Bachelor #1 or #3 next week. So it will be either sad/funny or racy/adventurous.

Camille's Wishful Wednesday: Those Two Guys, Plus One More Makes Three

***Camille is a friend of mine I know from church. She is classified on another blog I read as a "hopeless romantic", and I think that describes her pretty well. I also think she's incredibly well-balanced and able to work on multiple parts of herself at once. She is a law student, a Sunday school teacher, and an all-around good person. She has some pretty concrete ideas about men and the type of man she'd like to end up with. But she's doing the in-my-20s-dating-follies thing as well.***

Quick Recap [My last post about Camille was two weeks ago. In it, I mentioned that King and Bachelor #1 kept coming up. They were screwing with her singlehood by constantly being around and seeming to show interest without making an official declaration. And of course there were big (possible) warning signs associated with each guy.] Read Wishful Wednesday posts.

Camille and King were e-mailing back and forth and she mentioned to him that she applied to be an summer intern where is currently a year-round (I think) intern. She told him she wanted to see if she could get it on her own, but she didn't get that internship, she got another. King was upset that she didn't tell him while she was applying.

Current employees/interns get to be used as references for applications. And since she didn't tell him, she didn't use him as a reference. Camille is okay with the way things turned out because she is much happier with the internship she did get. She'll be doing more stuff and not sharing an office with college kids who are just padding their resumes. By the way, King is also in law school, he's not an undergraduate student.

But I was mostly excited to hear King was upset with Camille. He fussed at her about all the time they could spend together, romantically, but not won't because she'll be interning somewhere else. That means he doesn't see her in a filial way! He sees her as someone he'd like to have sex with. I still don't know if I'm a fan of them together since he seems very one-track-mind-ish. He was happy to make room for her when she was coming to where he was, but now that she's not, I figure she'll barely hear from him this summer.

I want Camille to be with someone who makes room for her, who sees her as more than great-when-convenient. That may not be King, but it sure as hell appears that way sometimes. That being said, I like this guy for her if that one part would change. But alas, you can't bank on tomorrow based on hope of change. So in the real world, he's still a peripheral guy until he gets it together.

Which leads me to Bachelor #1. He seems like a great guy, and we're quite sure he's not gay. But he also is keeping himself on the sidelines, only around enough to garner girl talk, but not enough to see if something real could happen. I guess we're just gonna put this guy on ice for now. You may remember I mentioned him possibly being around a lot because he and Camille were running for top office of a student organization at their school? Well, Camille won her office (yay!), but Bachelor #1 didn't actually run. They still will be spending time together though because they have the same job. So we shall see what becomes of this guy.

Now, I want to talk about this "one more" guy. Two people from our church got married last Saturday. Camille met a man there. So did Michelle, but that will be posted about on Friday. The man Camille met will be called Bachelor #3 for now. He was the best man at the wedding. Having met my boyfriend Easy while he was a groomsman at a wedding, I was loving this story already.

They hit it off at the wedding and she found out very early on that he was a hand holder. He held her hand as he escorted her around the reception room. He held her hand when she helped him load the wedding gifts into the car. He held her hand a lot that night. They exchanged numbers and he's been in contact with her every day since then.

He's a student and their schools are near each other, so he found time to take her out on a date already. They had an early dinner Monday night. There are a few problems with this guy, but I won't get into that yet. The most pressing issue is that Camille is super busy with school right now. As the year is coming to a close, she has a lot on her plate. Law school is very demanding. I think it's great that Bachelor #3 wants to show her a lot of attention and actually asked her out on a date instead of leaving it up in the air if he's genuinely interested. I just wish he was as busy as she is right now so she can finish the semester on a high note and focus on him in the summer.

As of right now, Camille is completely single, but it's nice to know there are good prospects floating around. One can only hope that these guys make it clear what they want from her, so she can make an educated decision. I'm thinking a blog post designed like the dating game. Of course it could be fun for her to do a summer juggle and to blog about that ... Just a thought.

Camille's Wishful Wednesday: Two Guys Tangentially Screwing With Her Singlehood

***Camille is a friend of mine I know from church. She is classified on another blog I read as a "hopeless romantic", and I think that describes her pretty well. I also think she's incredibly well-balanced and able to work on multiple parts of herself at once. She is a law student, a Sunday school teacher, and an all-around good person. She has some pretty concrete ideas about men and the type of man she'd like to end up with. But she's doing the in-my-20s-dating-follies thing as well.***

Quick Recap [Two weeks ago, I wrote a post about Camille and how men seem to come out of the woodwork when you make a declaration of singlehood. But Camille has held on to her focus and therefore held on to being single instead of falling back into the pattern of exploring options that may not even be options.] Read Wishful Wednesday posts.

So I told about how Camille met this guy who is one of my boyfriend Easy's friend. It was a quick meeting. And they both acknowledged they found the other attractive, but I guess there was no spark. Easy seems to think more of Camille than his friend does. And Gloria and I seem to think more of the friend than Camille did. That was okay, not a love connection. Easy has a ton more friends that could be potential suitors, ha ha.

But talking to Camille about her love potential, two names keep popping up. Bachelor #1 and King.

I haven't mentioned King almost since I first began writing about Camille. It's worth going back and reading about him, "the like of her life". He has resurfaced, not because he realized his undying love for her, but as a source of comfort for difficulties she's encountering right now with law school. He's a great sounding board for her and his friendship is important to her. But I wish there was more of a romantic strain to their interactions.

I feel this because she says things like, "I wish we could just get married. Skip all that dating stuff." Plus me, no one understands more than me the desire to be done searching for Mr. Right. But doing away with the foundation of a relationship is just silly. Camille knows that, but she still would like to skip ahead to the part where they're just sharing a life. That is a nice fantasy, but right now their interaction seems more filial than romantic, which sucks.

And then there's Bachelor #1. He and Camille keep over-lapping. They're taking this trip together with their classmates and they're working together on this student organization. He just shows up everywhere! Side note, Camille didn't take him the bread pudding dessert. She kept forgetting to give it to him. I think that just because the dessert wasn't delivered, it still counts as a girl giving the guy she likes cookies. But back to now. This guy seems to be trying to get closer to Camille, but he's never made any sort of official intent known.

In the grand scheme of things, it's good because there's no real threat to her single-hood. But it's also frustrating because these guys floating around haven't made their intentions clear. Oh, and there's this other thing about Bachelor #1 aka Kind-of-cool guy, he has questionable sexuality. One of Camille's friends told her that he didn't think Bachelor #1 was gay at all, but wouldn't be surprised if it turned out he was.

Camille is not interested in dating a sexually ambiguous guy, in fact she never questioned his sexuality and was surprised to hear other people question it. Bachelor #1 is from New York, so he has a very different sense of style than the average Chicagoan. I'm sorry, green pants doesn't make you gay when you come from New York, neither does a hoop earring in your ear. But it's slightly troublesome, especially when things he says to Camille could be interpreted as really interested and trying to get into her pants, or very gay and therefore not considering the sexual implications. You want an example? Okay, sharing a bed on the travel trip they're taking soon.

I'm pretty convinced that King doesn't look at Camille as if he were her brother and Bachelor #1 aka Kind-of-cool guy isn't even a little bit gay. But it sucks that their interactions could be interpreted that way. I'd much prefer a clear-cut "I like you and want to get into your pants and I have designs on your dinner plans for the forseeable future". Something like that would be nice, no?

Camille's Wishful Wednesday: Trying To Stay Single Without Cooperation

***Camille is a friend of mine I know from church. She is classified on another blog I read as a "hopeless romantic", and I think that describes her pretty well. I also think she's incredibly well-balanced and able to work on multiple parts of herself at once. She is a law student, a Sunday school teacher, and an all-around good person. She has some pretty concrete ideas about men and the type of man she'd like to end up with. But she's doing the in-my-20s-dating-follies thing as well.***

Side Note [my internet is still running super slow, but I'm going to try to post so I am not skipping a day I actually have something to share]

As soon as you make it clear you're trying to be single, men start coming out of the woodwork. I've already talked about Bachelor #1 and Bachelor #2, but it's not just them. I added to it to with introducing her to one of Easy's best friends. But in my defense, Easy made that happen, I wasn't trying to do all of what happened.

And now one of Camille's family friends is trying to hook her up with someone purely because the guy is also in law school. I guess that means they have a lot in common. But seriously, why should someone have to send out a mass e-mail about their intended single-hood unless they risk being setup every five minutes.

I'm interested to see how Camille handles all of this with people constantly saying, "I may have someone for you." She's still working on herand focusing on her. With that, and law school, I doubt she has time to squeeze in working on a new relationshp. But if the right guy comes along, screw being single.

I'm sure the right guy woud encourage her to spend all that time in the library and to maintain her new healthy lifestyle strategies. But I'm betting most of these guys floating around (technically there's a whole handful now) are probably not The One. At least not right now.

So Camille met the guy I liked for her (not in a setting where they could actually get to know each other though) and she's going to meet up with the guy suggested by the family friend. She's heading to that introduction with an "as friends: mind set. And there's still Bachelor #1 and #2.  But for now, she's single and embracing herself and her goals. If only the rest of us would let her alone to do that.

Camille's Wishful Wednesday: Single Self-Improvement

***Camille is a friend of mine I know from church. She is classified on another blog I read as a "hopeless romantic", and I think that describes her pretty well. I also think she's incredibly well-balanced and able to work on multiple parts of herself at once. She is a law student, a Sunday school teacher, and an all-around good person. She has some pretty concrete ideas about men and the type of man she'd like to end up with. But she's doing the in-my-20s-dating-follies thing as well.***
Read Wishful Wednesday posts.

Last week, I linked to a post and talked a bit about Camille looking for Mr. Right. I was interested to see what her reaction was to how she's been characterized in my blog. I told her I was trying to make her come off as a woman who's searching for the right man for her, but in the meantime, focusing on improving herself as a person and embracing being single. She's no Bridget Jones.

Camille did read the posts and she said with the exception of talking about her reaction to an acquaintance of ours getting engaged, I had pretty accurately captured the image I was trying to portray. I think that women who are in Camille's position can sometimes come off a desperate and leaving their lives on hold while waiting for the man who will make their world complete. But that's definitely not Camille. She's getting a law degree, working her way through a diet and exercise regimen to make herself healthier, and working on her relationships with friends and family without worrying about if today is the day she'll meet Mr. Right.

I admire that so much, and it makes me proud to be her friend. I don't do desperation, and I'm glad none of my friends do either. About Camille's law degree, she's making moves not just in the classroom, but also with her extracurriculars. She's getting involved and doing the networking necessary to secure job offers and internships that will help make her career.

About Camille's diet, she's technically on a diet because what's she's doing now is not a full lifestyle change, but it's a temporary change to jump start a lifestyle change. She has cut out fried foods and all bread and most other carbs too. She's already being accused of getting all skinny by her classmates. She's making her health and body image a priority and it's not because of a man.

All of this does have a cute story that comes with it. I mentioned Bachelor #1 two weeks ago. This guy has popped up again. Camille was out to dinner with her mother and the owner of the restaurant brought her out a complimentary bread pudding free of charge for dessert. Side note: I love having pretty friends where stuff like this just happens. She texted me, "bread pudding! oh no!" But then she came up with a great solution.

She decided to take the dessert to go and bring it to Bachelor #1. This was cute because it's a classic move of a girl to bring dessert (usually cookies) to the guy she likes. They're just friends, not even dating or anything like that, but I thinks it's a good gesture to encourage him and help his potential interest in her grow.

Also, this dessert sharing tells me something, this guy is someone she sees and spends time with. They're on Spring Break right now and bread pudding doesn't hold forever. She went to the restaurant last Thursday I believe, and I know she wasn't going to keep that bread pudding for eleven days until classes resume. Even if nothing happens between Camille and Bachelor #1, it's nice that she has that male attention that fits into (and doesn't interfere with) her focus on herself.

Camille's Wishful Wednesday: Finding Mr. Right

Last week, I talked about two single guys at Camille's school who've been brought to her attention for one reason or another. She's expressed no genuine interest in either guy, but intends to keep her eyes on them for future prospects, once the harrowing first year of law school is past.'

I have no new updates for this week, which is kind of a relief. I want Camille to have a break from all these frogs so she can be in the right mindset should her prince happen along. That thought is influencing my webcrawl for a link for this week. I'm Googling "Waiting for the one".

Lots of things popped up. Super-Christian sites, music sites, even a store that sold... actually I'm not sure. So I gave up and Googled "finding mr. right." That was much more focused on my topic. The link for today comes from TopDatingTips.com. I liked this post because it wasn't directed at divorced women, it wasn't trying to get me to buy something, and it used lots of big words. You can find the post here.

How does this apply to Camille? Well, she'd like to have a man in her life who was perfect for her. He would treat her well and keep her interest. And he would give her the wedding and marriage of her dreams. It's safe to say she's looking for Mr. Right.

Camille definitely has her list of attributes her perfect man will have. This article points out that he will have a list too and would you measure up any better to his list than he does to yours? It encourages women to take a real look at how they're going about finding Mr. Right and by what criteria. I think this could be useful for any single woman still in search of her happily ever after.

Camille's Wishful Wednesday: Super Single, For Now

***Camille is a friend of mine I know from church. She is classified on another blog I read as a "hopeless romantic", and I think that describes her pretty well. I also think she's incredibly well-balanced and able to work on multiple parts of herself at once. She is a law student, a Sunday school teacher, and an all-around good person. She has some pretty concrete ideas about men and the type of man she'd like to end up with. But she's doing the in-my-20s-dating-follies thing as well.***

Last week, I talked about Camille's love life. I applauded how she was embracing her single-ness, for the most part. I did also mention this guy who I think could be great for her, but I left it alone because this is a long con (lol, just amusing myself by using lingo from Leverage and White Collar). But I also linked to some posts from The Frisky. I think that website has a lot to offer in terms of cute stories and advice, no matter what your relationship status.

So for this week, I'm going to talk about some possibilities for romance in the future, outside of that guy I met. Because Camille is in law school, she doesn't get the chance to meet a lot of men. That may explain why she attracts so many busters.

In spite of this fact, she's done what most would do in the same situation. She's been taking a look around her law school to explore the prospects. Other prospects refers to the guys at her school. Like most grad programs, almost all the guys there are in serious relationships or engaged or married. This one guy she mentioned now has a girlfriend. But don't worry, there are others.

She didn't notice these guys at first because she was more focused on school work. But the guys have been brought to her attention by friends or her noticing their extra attention towards her. These guys may never be mentioned again after this post, but here they are.

Bachelor #1: Kind-Of-Cool Guy
Camille noticed him because he's always hugging her. Like, every time they see each other. I don't know how many (future) lawyers you know, but hugging is not regularly on the menu. Camille isn't even sure the constant hugs means he likes her. I think it does simply because Camille doesn't inspire strangers to feel super close to her. I guess he's not still a stranger. But still.

This guy had a girlfriend last semester, but that's over now. He dismissed the relationship, in exactly the way I guy would who's interested in moving on. Plus, they could both end up working together a lot as President and Vice President of one of the clubs for law students. So there will be plenty of time spent together. Bachelor #1 seems promising. There is a chance he could graduate from being described as "kind of cool."

Bachelor #2: Really-Nice-Guy
This guy is describes as "really nice, but I don't really like him." I think she meant romantically, not as a person period. I'm guessing they spend a considerable amount of time together and give off a vibe. Several of Camille's classmates have asked her what's going on between the two of them. Based on my friendships with Lion and Bad have shown me that people always have that reaction whenever a man and woman spend time together and get along well.

But this guy seems to like Camille, though she's still undecided. He apparently was engaged. She just found out today that he and his fiancee had broken up. So maybe, she feels like she's not that into him because she never considered it before because he wasn't on the market. If I mention him again, we'll see if her feelings change once the idea of him becomes a real possibility.

Sorry that I don't have a Bachelor #3. Get over it, she only mentioned two guys. Well she mentioned a third, and she actually said the words "I like him," but he has a girlfriend, so he shouldn't be on the list. This isn't AshleyMadison. This is The Medley. Where I share waaay too much about my friend's private romantic lives and spout waaaay to much hope for their possible happy endings. Scratch that, happily ever afters. Happy endings sounds dirty.

Camille's Wishful Wednesday: Enough About The Mystery Man, Completely Single Is Better

Quick Recap [The last post I wrote about Camille was back at the beginning of January. I was still looking forward to there being more do to about this mystery man Camille's classmate told her about. Well, since that time, I've heard nothing of this mystery man. So I'm shelving his existence until something more develops.] Read Wishful Wednesday posts.

There needs to be more to Camille's love life than the possibility of a man. Although, I did meet one of Easy's friends who I think might be pretty great for her. He's awesome and seems to have no bum-tendencies. Not that Camille dates bums, she just doesn't seem to attract the right element all on her own. I mean the butcher? Law school guy?

If I'm going to set Camille up, it's going to be a long setup. I haven't even mentioned this guy to her, though I did mention him to Gloria. I'd rather just get to know both of them and their interests in the opposite sex, see if they match up, and then have a dinner party and invite them both to see if there's interest. That's way better than a traditional setup, at least in my mind.

But since Camille is single, she's is embracing being single. Well sort of. There was that incident last weekend when we all found out this chick from our church is getting married. She's younger than all of us. Camille didn't respond well. But other than that, she's fine.

I think her Valentine's Day is a good example of her embracing being single. She spent most of the day in the library studying. And also she got her teeth cleaned. And also, she bought herself something from Tiffany's. So I think that worked a distraction plus getting something for herself instead of lamenting not getting something from a man.

But in an effort to stick with my new plan for when there's not much to repost for a friend, I am linking to another blog post that fits her situation. The Frisky is one of my favorite sites to stop by and check out and they always have something for the single girl.

Here are four interesting articles:

If I had to pick one, I'd pick the second one. That's based on discussions I've had with her about marriage and her largely negative reaction to the news of an associate's engagement.

So if you're single and wondering why you aren't married, let Mind of Man on Frisky give you the answer.

Camille's Wishful Wednesday: Mystery Man Is Still A Mystery

***Camille is a friend of mine I know from church. She is classified on another blog I read as a "hopeless romantic", and I think that describes her pretty well. Last week, I was more than ready for Camille's friend to finally set her up with this mystery man.

That's not what happened this week. I don't even know if the friend told the guy about Camille.

I asked her about the situation and she said she was over it.

And now I think Camille is secretly a commitment-phobe. She is usually over situations before they've come to an official end.

The friend who brought the idea of the mystery man into Camille's world is a friend she knows from school.

Camille starts back at school the week after next, so this friend could come back with info about actually meeting the mystery man.

Maybe Camille is just temporarily over it; I can't be sure until more time has passed.

I wish I knew a great guy to introduce her to. But all my guy friends are in very serious relationships.

So this may be the last you hear of the mystery man; I guess we'll have to see.

Yes, the mystery man is still a mystery.

I keep hearing more about him, but there have been no moves made to actually introduce him to Camille.

When I decide I'm going to set up two friends, I certainly don't go about it this way.

I don't mention one to the other and then talk about that person for weeks.

I would tell each person about the other to assess whether they have an interest in meeting each other.

But I guess Camille's friend is working on letting this guy know about Camille.

I hope she shares good stories, cause Camille is great.

I expect I'll have something concrete to report by next week because by then the friend will be back from Christmas vacation.

Christmas vacation was when she was supposed to assess his level of interest.

This has to be one of the longest setups in history, lol.

Camille's Wishful Wednesday: Musings On A Mystery Man

***Camille is a friend of mine I know from church. She is classified on another blog I read as a "hopeless romantic", and I think that describes her pretty well. She has some pretty concrete ideas about men and the type of man she'd like to end up with. But she's doing the in-my-20s-dating-follies thing as well.***

Last week, I was happy to report about the pseudo-official exiting of many useless men from Camille's world.

I did introduce a new fellow, the athlete. He won't get a name though until Camille actually meets him.

We've learned more about him in the last week.

This mystery man come from a two-parent household.

His mother is a bit over-bearing, but has a huge heart and really loves her son.

He has plans to go to divinity school (maybe) after his current career is over.

He has no children. That's really rare for a young black man in his position.

He grew up with a friend of Camille's from California. She's the one who's working on setting this guy and Camille up.

She's been telling Camille all these wonderful things about this man.

But she hasn't brought Camille up to him yet. That seems weird, I know, but it's coming.

She will see this guy during the Christmas holiday, and she will be telling him about Camille the, face to face, just like she told Camille about him face to face.

I don't know when they will get a chance to meet seeing as how he's very busy and will be until February.

But Camille is super busy too, so I guess it's not that big of a deal.

Hopefully, I'll know more about this mystery guy next week since Christmas is in a few days.

Maybe there will have been some contact. A phone call or e-mail or something.

This guy looks great on paper. He's actually pretty good-looking as well (I've seen his photo). I'd love to give him a name on this blog.

Camille's Wishful Wednesday: Getting Rid of Useless Baggage To Make Room For Worthwhile Possessions

So in the past week, Camille has managed to not meet any super questionable men she had to get rid of.

She did, however, get contacted by worthless men from her past.

I don't know that these men are all-around worthless. They are just worthless when it comes to Camille.

One doesn't even have a name on this blog because he's relatively ancient history.

But I will give a brief history in Camille's own words.

She told me he called but that she didn't call back and was worried she was being rude.

I told her she shouldn't feel bad because this particular guy wasn't good enough for her.

She said,
"Just bc he had a hidden child for 10 years, smokes weed EVERYDAY, plays video games EVERYDAY, never took me out, ad has gucci mane as his idol means he's not good enough?"

She was being funny by asking the question because she agrees with me.

Camille says she'll return his call after her finals are over. I hope he was just calling to wish her a belated birthday.

Of course he didn't leave a voicemail cause that would take too much effort. Moving on.

She has decided to give up on King. I suppose that's for the best.

Camille thinks he doesn't like her the way he used to. That's a very good reason to move on.

And then she received a belated birthday call from Malik. They had a three minute conversation in which she acted as uninterested as possible.

From the content of the convo, it seems as if he was feeling her out for the possibility of picking things up where he'd last carelessly left them.

I'm glad she made it pretty clear that wasn't an option.

We decided she would no longer put up with any kind of just-not-that-into-you behavior. I think it's a good rule to follow for myself as well.

Once a guy starts acting up, he's out. That's a luxury those of us without lifelong bonds like marriage and children can do.

And she's gonna try and stay away from guys that are of different religions. It's not something to even be concerned about.

But in Camille's case, these guys come from these religions that have such strict views that dating someone of a different religion is more a hindrance than anything else.

There is a guy that has been brought up that could be interesting.

All I'll say for now is that he comes from an easygoing religion. He's also reported to be a gentleman, from a nice family, and a genuinely good person. And he's an athlete.

I'll leave it at that until there's something more concrete to go on. Such as actually meeting him. He's a friend of a friend.

Camille's Wishful Wednesday: One Wrong Guy After Another

***Camille is a friend of mine I know from church. She is classified on another blog I read as a "hopeless romantic", and I think that describes her pretty well. I also think she's incredibly well-balanced and able to work on multiple parts of herself at once. She is a law student, a Sunday school teacher, and an all-around good person. She has some pretty concrete ideas about men and the type of man she'd like to end up with. But she's doing the in-my-20s-dating-follies thing as well.***

I don't know if people read my quick intros about each person each day. Since they don't change much, I figure people don't.

I'd like to draw your attention to Camille's intro above. I say she has in-my-20s-dating-follies. Today's post is partly dedicated to just that.

You may remember my story about the time Camille gave her number to the butcher she met while running an errand for Malik. If not, read it here.

She had to get rid of that guy. And now she has another guy to get rid of. This guy approached her because he saw her bag with the name of her law school on it.

He asked questions about the school and expressed a desire to go there. She ended up giving him her card in case he had more questions.

And of course he began calling and texting because he "wants to be her friend." Camille attracts some weird guys, and this one is no different.

After I stopped laughing, I was able to get the whole story. He has a problem with texting her at inappropriately late times. Like 11:46 pm on a weeknight.

She told him she was available to answer more questions about law school but that she wasn't looking for any new friends.

Camille attracts... persistent... men. So of course, he didn't take the hint. To him that must have meant, "try harder stupid."

Since that time she's gotten rid of him. And now there's no one.

Except that cute law student she has the crush on. The one who can't remember her name.

During her winter break from school, I want Camille to meet some men who are not lame or just not that into her or forgetful or creepy. A nice guy who is genuinely interested in who she is as a person. Where is Hitch when you need him?

Camille's Wishful Wednesday: Completely Single Is The Assumption

***Camille is a friend of mine I know from church. She is classified on another blog I read as a "hopeless romantic", and I think that describes her pretty well. I also think she's incredibly well-balanced and able to work on multiple parts of herself at once. She is a law student, a Sunday school teacher, and an all-around good person. She has some pretty concrete ideas about men and the type of man she'd like to end up with. But she's doing the in-my-20s-dating-follies thing as well.***

Last week, I talked about Camille's crush. That has been fun, but it's not the substance that makes a love life.

What does make a love life? Dealing with dates and triumphs and disappointments.

You do all that so that one day, you'll end up with the love of your life and live happily ever after. Or whatever.

Camille isn't at the point of happily ever after yet. She did call Malik back. She left a message simply stating she was calling him back.

That was over a week ago. She hasn't heard back from him yet. I'm not going to say yet. I doubt she will hear back from him.

He may call just to say what's up in a few weeks. But that doesn't count because it won't be a reconciliation attempt. It'll be guy stupid-ness and habit.

But it's okay because Camille did say she was over their situation. I wasn't sure her over-ness was going to stick, but it has.

I'm glad to hear that because Malik wasn't right for her. At least not while he was behaving the way he was. So. On to the next.

There is this other guy who I mentioned waaaay back when I first started writing about Camille on this blog. You can read the post here.

His blog name is King. Camille described him as the "like of her life". She ran into him last week. It kind of rekindled some thought possibilities for her.

She suggested they do lunch, but nothing has come of it yet. She has a super busy daytime schedule because of school though. So maybe I'll have something interesting to say about that in a few weeks.

Camille's Wishful Wednesday: A Schoolgirl Crush is Still Fun

***Camille is a friend of mine I know from church. She is classified on another blog I read as a "hopeless romantic", and I think that describes her pretty well. I also think she's incredibly well-balanced and able to work on multiple parts of herself at once. She is a law student, a Sunday school teacher, and an all-around good person. She has some pretty concrete ideas about men and the type of man she'd like to end up with. But she's doing the in-my-20s-dating-follies thing as well.***

Last week, I wrote about Camille's new crush. Well, he's not a brand new crush, but he was new to this blog last week. This is something I find incredibly fun for a couple of reasons.

I just think crushes are cute to begin with. And Camille is one of my friends who is usually pretty serious. By serious, I don't mean boring, I just mean she's not very silly, she's mature. But I like the silliness that comes along with a crush. Silliness suits her in this situation.

Since Malik isn't completely out of the picture, I suppose I should update. Camille had a school event last week. Malik called her during that event, I'm assuming because he didn't expect that she would be busy at that time. She didn't answer the phone right then.

I suggested she text him to see what he wanted since he didn't leave a voicemail. She said that was rude and she would call him later. I haven't asked her about it in a couple of days, but she hadn't called him back yet. If she does, I'll let you know next week if he had anything important to say. Don't hold your breath.
